Explanation of the application for a “pensie” from the Sint Christophorileen tot Oldehove or
the Weyenbergh-Gorter-Sinia Fund
- The following conditions apply to qualify for a pensie.
- The applicant must have proven to be a descendant of the founder of the Sint
Christophorileen tot Oldehove, Gerrijt van Belcum, who died in 1480, or of Jan Alles Gorter,
who died in Neuengamme (Germany) in 1944. If this has not yet taken place, an extract from
the birth register or a copy of the parents’ marriage certificate (including the page on which
the children are listed) must be sent along. Of course, one of the parents must already be
registered as a descendant in the register of descendants. - Applicant is following or will follow a full-time university study. The application can therefore
be submitted by descendants who are already studying and those who intend to start a
university study in the academic years 2025-2026 or 2026-2027. Applicants who are already
university students at the time of the “begevingsvergadering” in the spring of 2026 will be
appointed beneficiaries retroactively to the start of the 2025-2026 academic year. It is
important correctly answer the questions asked in the application form, as well as to submit
the requested documents. - The aggregate income of both parents from boxes 1, 2 and 3 of the Income Tax for the
year 2023 may not exceed an amount of € 91.360,00. In case there are dependent children
other than the applicant, this amount is increased by € 7.690,00 for each other dependent
child. For the income test, a copy of the assessment notice for tax year 2023 must be
submitted. In the absence of this, a statement from the Inspectorate of Taxes indicating the
said aggregate income will suffice. The 2023 income tax return is not sufficient for the test. If
it can be demonstrated that the 2023 income differs significantly from the average annual
income due to e.g. a one-off payment, the 2022 or 2024 income can replace the 2023
income.
The contribution towards the costs of following a university study (the pensie), which is
determined annually by the Board, currently amounts to € 1.800,00 per year and is paid out
for a maximum of 4, 5 or 6 years, depending on the field of study. The pensie is paid out in
two equal six-monthly installments after the overview of study results obtained has shown
that sufficient progress has been made. The one-off contribution to the promotion costs is
currently also € 1.800,00.
The fully completed application form, accompanied by the requested documents, must be
submitted before 1 January 2026. Applicants will be informed of the results after the
“begevingsvergadering” to be held on April 16th 2026, at which the candidates will be
appointed beneficiaries.
